Pursuant to the Presidential Decision published in the Official Gazette on 29 July 2025, an English proficiency examination was administered on 19–20 July in Shymkent, Kazakhstan, to select the students who will study during the 2026–2027 academic year at our university's first international branch, established within Özbekali Zhanibekov South Kazakhstan Pedagogical University. The examination was organised and administered by our university's College of Foreign Languages.
Developed by the Assessment and Evaluation Unit of the College of Foreign Languages to assess the four core language skills, the English Proficiency Examination was conducted face-to-face in two stages across four sessions. A total of 132 prospective students participated in the examination, which academic staff from the college administered to them. Prior to the examination, Prof. Dr Kayrat Balabiyev, rector of Özbekali Zhanibekov South Kazakhstan Pedagogical University, and Ruslan Yemelbayev, adviser to the minister of science and higher education of Kazakhstan, wished the candidates every success.
Assessing all four core language skills in accordance with international assessment and evaluation standards, the examination marked the first proficiency examination administered abroad by the College of Foreign Languages. It also represented a significant academic example of the friendship and close ties between the two countries.
